Considering the facts when purchasing voltage regulators

1. Power determination
The total power that is going to feed from the voltage regulator has to be calculated. The devices that has their preliminary currents excessive like engines or UPS has to be considered, especially while calculating the power of the engines, it has to be taken 3 times the power that is written on the label. In addition to this steps, in case any extra devices might be used in the future, some space has to be left. When using regulator, the voltage activities have to be obserbed (continuous low voltage, continuous high voltage or the voltage that is fluctuating hour by hour).
2. The Location of the regulator
Voltage Stabilizator must be put in a clean, dustfree place close to the panel.
3. The specifications of the regulator
a. Input voltage limits must be wide (160V-250V)
b. Regulator’s speed of adjusting the voltage must be at least 50V/sec. On the other hand, there is a risk of fluctuating due to the high speed.
c. voltage regulators must have the protection circuit (low and high voltage), one of the most important spesification of all. This speciality may cost a bit more, but in the long term, you will appreciate this spesification. The protection circuit makes the contactor shut off the regulator’s output, when regulator’s output voltage fluctuate under 190V or over 245V.
d. In situations like the mains voltage cutting off and coming back. The voltage comes so excessive that it can damage your devices. Voltage regulators must be in charge after making fine voltage adjustments.
e. In three-phased systems, in some occasions when one of the phases cuts off, especially in the places where there are motors operating, motor damages are often obserbed. When purchasing regulator, be sure that whether phase protection circuit’s operating succesfully or not under full load.
